Name: David "Norm" Lane
Pledge Class: Fall 1989
Chapter Number: 1550
Major: History/Porpoise
Current Residence: The latest incarnation of Chez Norm is in Lake Mary, FL
Profession: I'm a Deputy Sheriff and the General Counsel for the Seminole County Sheriff's Office. Greatest job ever. I never know what I'll be dealing with when I show up to work. I also teach law enforcement at Valencia Community College.
Family Details: One fiance', Annie and one dog, Doc
Reunion: I'm excited to see a bunch of people I haven't seen in years. I'm also excited that my brother Mike may show up. My dad can't make it, but it'll be cool nonetheless. I'm just trying to figure out how not to look pathetic standing out in front of where the Porpoise used to be and bitching about how things have changed. I used to laugh at the old guys who did that, and now I am one.
Email: davidrlane@yahoo.com is the only one that's not subject to public records requests and monitoring by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement
Last ten years: I got a JD from Tulane Law School in New Orleans, passed the Texas, Florida and Louisiana state bars, finally quit Outback, was an Assistant State Attorney (prosecutor) for four years and have been working here for three.
Other good stuff: Mardi Gras 2000 when Ryan Jones showed up from DC with the same phone number for a girl I'd gotten the night before, Helgeson's wedding the weekend after 9/11 in Destin, where Jackie Sherrell rented a car and drove from Arizona to get there, Mardi Gras 1999 when Dorworth, Nassar, Josh Frazier, the future Mrs. Frazier and a couple others went to Tujague's (high class New Orleans restaurant) after drinking all day. And of course, anyone who was around from 92-94 can't forget Chez Norm.
How I got my nickname: Everyone thinks it's because I used to drink a lot. Actually, my dad, the original Norm was T#808 and was on the composite when I went through rush. Cort Lamee's dad had been active with my dad, and there was already a Junior (John Upson) in the house, so I ended up with Norm.
